The MasterCard Foundation Scholarships Program is a $500 million initiative to educate young African to lead change and make a positive social impact in their communities.

It is targeted at young people from economically disadvantaged communities who have demonstrated academic talent and leadership potential. The program provides students with holistic support including comprehensive scholarships (financial support for fees, uniforms, books and supplies, transportation, accommodation, and stipends). It also gives scholars skills (critical thinking, communications, and entrepreneurship), and an alumni network, among other initiatives.
