The Diversity Abroad & the China Institute are partnered to offer scholarships to USA students to study at the China Institute through the University of Dayton. With $20,000 available to each scholar, this scholarship is one of the most generous grants out there.

The scholarship funds cover costs which includes tuition, housing, meals, airfare, program transportation, Chinese visa costs and associated tours and excursions. These are applicable towards the total program cost for a semester at the China Institute.
While scholarships of $20,000 are available, there will also be scholarships of $15,000 for other students upon successful completion of a program application. Scholarship funds will only be applied towards applications for the China Institute through the University of Dayton, but please note that this scholarship is also available to students not currently enrolled at the University of Dayton.
The beneficiaries of this scholarship will go through a specialized Diversity Abroad pre-departure orientation that considers the experience of diverse students in China. in addition, each recipient will receive one complimentary registration to Diversity Abroad’s annual Global Student Leadership Summit.
The University of Dayton China Institute aims to build greater understanding between Chinese and American citizens by facilitating knowledge transfer about culture, society, government, language, law and economic system. The University of Dayton is one of only 20 cultural centers funded by the U.S. State Department in China.
To be eligible for the Diversity Abroad & China Institute Scholarship, you must:
- have a 2.50+ cumulative university GPA
- be of good behavioral and academic standing with home institution
- be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
- be 18 years or older at the time of the program start date (January 12, 2017)
- have completed submission of scholarship application no later than October 14th at 11:59 pm
- have completed all short-essay response questions
