The SINGA Doctorate Scholarship is attractive scholarship opportunity offered by the Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA). It is aimed at supporting research and grooming international researchers of diverse background in the fields of Science and Engineering.

SINGA is a collaboration between the Agency for Science, Technology & Research (A*STAR), the National University of Singapore (NUS) and the Nanyang Technological University (NTU). The PhD study is to be carried out in English at one of the partner institutions – A*STAR Research Institutes, NUS or NTU. Upon successful completion, students will be conferred a PhD degree by either NUS or NTU.
Applications will soon open for January 2018 intake and end on 1 June 2017 (2359hrs GMT+8 SINGAPORE Time). Applications for August 2018 intake will open thereafter and end on 1 January 2018 (2359hrs GMT+8 SINGAPORE Time). Every year, about 240 scholarships are awarded to students from all over the world under the SINGA scholarship scheme.
The scholarships are valued as:
- Medical insurance
- Conference allowance
- One-time Airfare Grant
- One-time Settling-in Allowance
- Full support for tuition fees for 4 years of PhD studies.
- Attractive monthly stipend over 4 years of PhD studies. The annual stipend amount is to be increased after passing Qualifying Examination.
The following criteria apply to the SINGA Doctorate Scholarship:
- The scholarship is open to all international students
- Good skills in written and spoken English
- Good reports from academic referees
- Graduates with a passion for research and excellent academic results
Applicants can pursue a PhD degree in any field of study for which they can demonstrate interest and capability. The PhD projects under SINGA are research based.
How to apply for the SINGA Doctorate Scholarship
Application for the SINGA Doctorate Scholarship is done online through the SINGA website. You can access the scholarship announcement page here. In the past, applicants were required to send hard copies of supporting documents via post, but these can now be uploaded during the online application.
Create an account and apply for the correct scholarship – “Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA)” – in the application portal after logging in. Also check to see that all data you have provided during your online application is correct and accurate. Amendments to the application will NOT be possible after it is submitted.
