University of Bradford Global Development Scholarships

The University of Bradford Global Development Scholarship is formerly known as Countries in Crisis Scholarship. It is intended to aid students in financial hardship who are domiciled in areas affect by crisis as a result of the war, natural disaster and political problems.

The scholarship features any full-time master’s programme offered at University of Bradford except MBA. Students from the countries listed below are particularly invited to apply for these scholarships. However in extreme circumstances applications from students from other countries will be considered by the panel.

Afghanistan, Angola, Bangladesh, Burundi, Burma/Myanmar, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Colombia, Congo (Peoples Republic), Congo, Democratic Republic, Djibouti, Timor Leste (East Timor), Egypt, United Arab Republic of Eritrea, Ethiopia, Georgia, Guinea, Haiti, Honduras, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Cote D’Ivoire (Ivory Coast), Kenya, Korea (North), Democratic Peoples Republic of Lebanon, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar – Malagasy Republic, Malawi, Maldive Islands, Mauritania, Mozambique, Nepal, Niger, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestine -West Bank – Gaza Strip inc E Jerusa, Russian Federation, Sierra Leone, Somali Democratic Republic, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Swaziland, Syrian Arab Republic, Tanzania, United Republic of Uganda, Yemen, Republic of, Zambia, Zimbabwe

It is unclear how many awards are given each year but each scholarship is worth approximately £25,000. The scholarship will cover full tuition fees and accommodation in The Green plus £4,200 per annual living costs to be paid in three installments – October, January and April.


To be considered for the Global Development Scholarship, candidates must have interest to take a place on one of the Master’s courses at the University of Bradford. In addition, you will need to have achieved (or be about to achieve) the minimum level of degree qualification specified for your country (see the scholarship application page for details).

In addition, you will need to meet the University’s English Language requirements for your chosen program of study.

How to apply for the University of Bradford Global Development Scholarships

Applications will open on 24 April 2017 and close on 15 May 2017 (17:00 GMT).  You no longer need to have secured an offer to study at Bradford before you apply for this scholarship. However you must already have completed your undergraduate degree and have access to your transcripts to be sure you won’t have problem during screening.
